Hū ka Pele - The movement of the Pele. This Seminar will focus on traditional stories and chant of the lava flow to gain a perspective of the creative force of Hawaii. Through this informative seminar we will learn protocols associated with the lava flow through chant and story. This seminar and workshop will be presented by native Hawaiian practitioner and former Professor at the Hawaii Community College Leialoha Ilae-Kaleimamahu, MEd.
This seminar is offered in the Waimea community at the Punawaiola Rooms; acros the Kahilu Theater. We will learn about the traditions of our Volcano; the Pele. We will look at the depth and breath of what makes our island home unique and provide a platform on which we can gain knowledge and perspectives that can truly inspire your life here in the islands. We will begin the journey to understand the function and purpose of our volcano through a unique Hawaii perspective.

Part II: "Ma ka hana ka ʻike" - Through experience we learn.
After our seminar, we will venture out for a one and a half day Experience. We will visit the culturally significant places in the Puna district to gain another layer of understanding. We will traverse the old and new landscape of Puna. This experience will entail an overnight stay at the Mokuhulu Living Arts and Cultural Center. (Camp Style)
